Week 9

Hello!

Before we look back at our shot-by-shot recap of this past week, did you see the Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale? What a tournament!

It’s admittedly tough to sift through all the storylines that arose from this week’s stop on tour. Scottie Scheffler notched his first PGA Tour victory after beating out Patrick Cantlay in a playoff. Joel Dahmen went Petey Pablo with his shirt after a birdie on 16, directly after his playing partner Harry Higgs flashed his stomach in celebration… of a par.

1,000,000 brownie points if you know any of these players and send them The Mulligan.

The rookie Sahith Theegala fought tooth-and-nail in the final groups on the weekend to finish tied for third, his career-high finish on the PGA Tour. Zach Johnson, for the second time, accidentally knocked his golf ball off the tee while taking practice swings with his driver. Charley Hoffman, Bryson DeChambeau, and Phil Mickelson hinted at joining the Saudi Golf league.

But one moment will be etched into the golf history books forever: Sam Ryder’s hole-in-one. Take a minute and watch this clip. If you don’t get chills running down your spine, go see a chiropractor.

Here's a word from Harry and Joel:

Highlights

First Merch Release

As we gear up for our first inaugural event in Austin, it’s only right that the Events Pod continues to get the shine they deserve. This past week, members were informed that those who make the trip down to Austin will receive free gift bags stuffed with brand new, never-before-seen LinksDAO merch.

When our merch shop launches in the next couple of weeks, you can expect to see these logos, patterns, and designs mixed in across the full spectrum of golf merchandise, from ball-markers to hats and everything in between.

Speaking of merch that makes you want to quit your job, sell all your land, and spend millions online... check out Dryvebox’s equity crowdfunding campaign while it’s still open (one more week!)

Dryvebox

Tee off... in a box?!

Recently Dryvebox hosted LinksDAO members for an IRL event in Arizona. This happened not just because the Head of Marketing is a LinksDAO member, but because Dryvebox and LinksDAO have shared visions for the future of golf. By leveraging technology, golf can be more accessible and fun than ever before.

What’s Dryvebox?

Dryvebox is a mobile golf simulator equipped with Trackman, internal/external TVs, lights, music, and a party deck.

The goal of Dryvebox is to build a fleet of mobile simulators and root them in communities everywhere. Through lessons, practice, events, and giving back, each Dryvebox has the ability to spread the game of golf far and wide. Dryvebox wants to make golf accessible so it’s only fitting that they made investing in their company accessible too.

Dryvebox’s equity crowdfunding campaign is open for one more week. You can get real equity starting at $150. Check it out here.

Community Spotlight

Course Chatter

So who are the members of the community team? In the past couple of weeks, we’ve detailed how the community team plans on scaling each of the eight working pods to make it so that all LinksDAO members can get involved. But up until this point, those team members have largely remained anonymous.

We’ve had numerous people reach out and ask for a team introduction channel where newcomers, server veterans, and everyone that falls in between can get to personally know the people working behind the scenes to create the world’s greatest golf and leisure club.

In comes community team interviews, the newest weekly feature in the Mulligan! First on the tee is JenS.

1.       What’s your name, age range, location, and handicap?

My name is Jen! I am in my mid 30s and was born and raised in Colorado. Used to be an 18 handicap, but that number is probably much higher nowadays.

2.       What initially piqued your interest about LinksDAO?

I love golf and was just getting into web3. I thought it was a super cool idea with legitimate people behind it, and loved the pace at which the project was moving.

3.       Are you a contributor? If so, what projects are you involved with, and in what ways?

Definitely a contributor. I’m working on carrying out the inclusivity mission as well as diving into the partnerships, analytics, and events pods. Looking forward to helping plan a Colorado retreat!

4.       What’s your favorite thing about the LinksDAO community?

My favorite thing, by far, is the energy of the people involved. All of the mods are so positive and helpful and want to be as open-minded as possible, especially in regards to inclusivity.

5.       Tell us about your favorite golf memory or memories.

My favorite course is Keystone River. It’s a mountain course with amazing elevation change and views. I have so many great memories playing there with my husband, dad, and grandpa. On one of my many loops around the track, I took on a steep corner going a little too fast with my grandpa on board… the cart didn’t roll and nobody fell out, but I still catch crap for it to this day. Friendly reminder that alcohol hits you faster at altitude!

6.       What’s in your golf bag?

As a college graduation present I got to go pick out a new set of clubs. Any kind. Tried different clubs for weeks, but ended up picking a set that cost $128 total. I’ve regripped them three times and still love them.

Note from Jen: Heads up! A #ladies-tee channel was recently added to the Discord. We would love to have everyone stop by and say hello, especially any ladies that haven’t been active in the Discord for a while. The LinksDAO team values inclusivity and it is a priority to increase representation and diversity within our demographic!

The Lido

After just nine short weeks, we are excited tell you that official LinksDAO golf course talks have begun! LinksDAO Founding Member Adam Besnivick, or Bez in the Discord, has been heading up discussions about a myriad of golf course-related topics in #the-lido channel.

Fill out the course preference survey here. This will greatly inform how course research is conducted over the coming months as we inch closer to acquisition.

But… What’s The Lido?

Located on Long Island, The world-famous Lido Golf Club was opened in mid-1917 after a years-long development project led by C.B. Macdonald, the famed architect of Shinnecock Hills and the National Golf Links of America. More than two million cubic yards of sand was moved during construction to create this intricate masterpiece of both engineering and golf nestled among the shores of Southampton.

Unfortunately, the course and its surrounding area fell victim to the Great Depression. The United States Navy took over the land during World War II, and The Lido ceased to exist… until about 13 months ago when Mike Keiser, founder of the Bandon Dunes Resort, announced his family was recreating the course at their Sand Valley property in Wisconsin. Read GolfDigest’s article for more information.
