Keeping up with LinksDAO 24/7 so you don't have to

Welcome to the Mulligan, the official publication of LinksDAO! Make sure to subscribe so you can stay up to date with everything that's going on over at the world's greatest community governed, community conceived golf and leisure club.

Week 6: January 23rd, 2022 - January 30th, 2022

Welcome

If you're reading this, it's probably for a combination of the following reasons. You might be intrigued by our plans to use NFTs and the DAO organizational structure to reimagine the country club. Maybe you're an avid golfer with an interest in Web3, and want to stay in tune as these new platforms and technologies push forward.

You might love golf so much that this is your first foray into the blockchain and crypto world, or you might be obsessed with Web3 but have never picked up a club in your life. Its possible you found your way to LinksDAO because you're a huge fan of Steph and/or Seth Curry, who, as you may have heard, recently joined our ranks. No matter how you found us, we are excited to have you on board!

In the coming weeks, The Mulligan will continue to evolve. Right now, we’re a young, scrappy two-time Korn Ferry Tour winner of a newsletter, but one day soon, we hope to be winning majors, making 40-foot lag putts with our eyes closed, and hitting every green in regulation… also with our eyes closed? Or doing whatever the golf/Web3 newsletter equivalent of those things would be. We really appreciate you reading, and we’re excited and optimistic for what this newsletter can become in the future.

Highlights

LinksDAO officially launched on December 15th, 2021. In our short time on tour, we’ve already put together an impressive resume. This week, LinksDAO is launching its community proposal and community voting platforms, with the first official vote opening up to the community on Tuesday night.

Let’s quickly take a look back at what we’ve accomplished over the past few weeks:

  • With the announcement of our partnership with Five Iron Golf, we became one of the first NFTs to offer an in-real-life utility to its owners. Read more about it here.

  • We surpassed 26,000 followers on Twitter, 14,800 members in the Discord, and 900 followers on Instagram.

  • The Community Team:

    • Launched a new organizational structure and sorted team members into "pods"

    • Developed a new social media strategy and implemented it on Twitter and Instagram

    • Completed the member survey analysis to help us better understand the community

      • Membership currently expands to 43 out of the 50 U.S. States and 34 countries around the world

    • Continued to engage some of the best golf brands in the world (Keep your eyes peeled over the next couple of weeks!)

    • Decided on and tested the beta versions of our proposal and voting platforms, Discourse and Snapshot

Week 6 Tee Sheet

This upcoming week may very well be our most important week since launch. Be sure to keep an eye out for the below!

  • A Twitter Space with the core team on 1/24

  • A Discord Podium with the core team + community Q&A on 1/25

  • Discourse launch for proposal comments on 1/24

  • First official DAO vote on Snapshot opens on 1/25

  • Community Team will reorganize Discord channels and launch a member-facing Notion page to help keep progress transparent

Community Spotlight

A Note from Nick B, Content Pod:

If you'd like to know how you can get involved in the most cutting-edge golf organization on the planet, I've got a quick story for you that explains how easy it was for me.

After joining LinksDAO’s Discord during the last week of December, I noticed that it was nearly impossible to keep up with a project that moves at such a rapid pace. Everything was happening so quickly, and it seemed like important news broke by the hour. So I thought, “What would be the best way to keep everyone in the LinksDAO community informed and up to date?” I figured most folks don’t have the bandwidth to be on Discord 24/7.

In short, LinksDAO needed an easily digestible way for the community to keep up with everything that was going on. So I took action and reached out to Cooper about creating an official newsletter for our community. And thus, a few days later, The Mulligan was born.

Whats The Point?

The best way to get involved in a DAO is to put yourself and your ideas out there. In order to capture the ideas of everyone reading this and allow for community members to contribute, the community team instituted a minimal viable organizational structure this past week. This system prioritizes clear communication while grouping individuals into working pods, each with a specific, overarching goal. They are as follows:

  • Membership: Manages group membership, onboarding, roles, and upward mobility

  • Operations: Designs, maintains, and runs the underlying tooling/processes used by the Community

  • Community Product: Maintains and iterates the Discord server in order to ensure ease of use for all

  • Content: Creates an informed community by providing and sharing resources about golf, crypto, Web3, NFTs, and DAOs

  • Moderation: Actively monitors Discord channels, engages membership, and resolves disputes among members

  • Analytics: Provides insight and data to the community as well as the core team to help make more informed decisions

  • Partnerships: Develops relationships with brands across the golf ecosystem

  • Support: Anticipates issues from the community, provides self service, and managers the support channel inquiries

  • Growth & Social: Recruits new members to the community and develops outward-facing content and engagement strategy

We look forward to hearing each and every one of your ideas. Reach out to the Caddies, Starters, and Attendants in the Discord and we will get you pointed in the right direction!
